With no real enemies in sight, these figures are hard to justify, but lack of media attention and politicians, with vested interest in the military industrial complex, continue to sound alarms that seem to require additional spending. The US already spends more than the G7 combined, twenty two times the amount of the seven so-called rogue states combined, and more than the combined spending of the next twelve nations. It has been strongly criticized as biopiracy by many, because traditional, common and indigenous knowledge ends up being owned by western scientists.   1. Arms dealers and weapons manufacturers receive a lot of subsidies and tax breaks. Governments often subsidize the corporate military industrial complex. Arms corporations are receiving increased amounts of tax breaks and subsidies from the very nations that claim to promote, or be prominent in, world peace.
